Is sharing "one love, one lifetime" (quote from The Phantom of The Opera) something you want to do or something you're scared of?

I have a friend who dates but he says he can't commit to marriage to one person.

I HATED bieng married to the wrong person - but even thinking about bieng married to the right person REALLY excites me! :-) I have not lost the faith!

It doesn't excite or scare me. Just doesn't interest me. I've been married before and I like my freedom now.

I'm getting married in four and half months and it excites me. I do much better in one monogamous relationship than attempting to date, break up, be single for however long, date again. Ick. No thanks.

My fiance drives me batshit sometimes but I wouldn't have it any other way. Besides, farting in bed can be downright hilarious sometimes. He's worse than me. Hehe.
It does excite me. I love my boyfriend very much and he is very good to me, I definately see myself being with him and having kids and what not. I think when youre ready, you are ready and you can not talk someone into it otherwise. Marriage is not made for everyone...
To each his own as they say. It depends on the person if they want to spend their lives with one person or date lots of different people. Me, personally, marriage is the best, you grow together so close, it can't be described. You always have someone there for you when you are sad, hurt, happy, etc. You have a best friend, a lover, someone who loves you and would do anything for you. To me being alone would be a sad life and dating gets real old after years of it. I am married and wouldn't have it any other way. I have a fantastic husband.

If you just date people then that's really not the right way because that person can just ditch you at any time, and if you both have a kid together than that person won't even be legally obligated to help you out much. But marriage is a more stable and harmonious relationship.

Marriage should be approached with caution and of course you should find out a lot about the person you want to marry first. But when you decide that you want to marry that person then that's better for you. People should realize that marriage is better also for the family since the kids won't be torn apart and the extended relatives will also be happier. Anyway, I suggest to everyone to be serious about marriage and avoid having casual relationships with many people.

Your friend is a sad case and I sincerely pity him.How narrow minded can he be?Perhaps,he has inferiority issues.Perhaps he feels dats he's never good enuf for anyone.
I compare to buying a home.

Dating is renting a home and marriage is buying one. you are supposed to rent to own a home. I know for a fact that I want a home to come to. Everyone does. The ones who don't admit are afraid of their past which we will call credit. They are also afraid of their friend's credit reports and things. Well, buying a home is a risk, but very benificiary. That's how I feel about marriage. I want it!

it scares the hell outta me...I havent come across a married couple where just by looking at them together makes me want to get married! infact looking at them together makes me NOT want to get married! the majority of people i know just dont look like they enjoy being married, they're iether tied down with no freedom or unhappy. why would i want to get married after that? exactly!
