Wicked (2x, NY and LA) - Loved it. Its done a lot for reviving musical theatre, and the talent in the cast is amazing, not something you can put a big name in to fake it. Choreography is actually really fun too. Favorite song would be Defying Gravity, the closer to the first act.
Hairspray (none, just own the cast recording) - Very cutesy, I hear a lot of good things from friends who have seen it.
Rent (2x, LA and Orange County) - Rent's done a lot for getting a younger crowd into the theatre as well, and the movie's done a lot for reviving Rent's career. Its a good loud show, and very powerful. Don't expect the movie on stage when you go to see it, there's whole other levels to the show that you simply can't capture on film. Favorite songs, La Vie Boheme and What You Own.
Phantom of the Opera (3x, LA and NY) - I first saw this show as a child, and was completely entranced by it. The cast was wonderful, I was sitting down in the orchestra when the chandelier fell... it was wonderful. As I've grown older and seen more shows, the magic's died a little. I saw it two years on Broadway right before the movie came out, and I was a little disappointed. If you're not a theatre person, I think you enjoy it more, but if you are, there are better things to see. Fav songs: Phantom of the Opera and Past the Point of No Return.

Since I am not gay...I have seen none of them.
Haispray, the last song "you cant stop the beat" makes you want to get out of your seat and dance. the whole thing is amazing, because the last song just sums up the feeling of the music flowing through you.
Not a big fan of any of those or the overall musicals or whatever you call them.
nope me.. but maybe next time
I've heard all of them, seen Phantom.
I enjoy Rent, simply because it appeals to more modern tastes of music. Phantom isn't too bad either, it's just that my sister and mother play it incessantly...
My favorite part of Rent is the theme song. Unadulterated rock with great synths. (I'm a synth freak, here... :) )
Hairspray was fantastic...........all of the songs were great. You must see it live
I saw Phantom of the opera and my favorite part was when the chandelier fell down! It was a great illusion!
