There are some talent shows coming up soon at my school, I am 16 years old, I have asked my vocal teacher if she couls tell me what voice type I have, but she said she isn't sure, because I could go either way at the moment because, I have the high notes(I can sing Think of me from the phantom of the Opera including the cadenza at the very end going up to the B flat easily) but my voice has a darker timber. I am looking for a classical song, possibly an aria, or a song that can be sung by a classical singer from a musical. However, I would request that the piece not be 'Think of me' by Andrew Loyd Webber as I have already preformed that piece earlier this year. It recieved a good reception from my peers, it was something different and it has actually caused some of them to express an inerest in classical music. I am also looking for for a bass and soprano/mezzo-soprano duet, preferably something classical but that sounds contemporary, an example would be the songs by Il Divo. Thank-you

I approve of your choice of "Think of Me" in the first place. It's a great piece, and anyone who can perform POTO and spread it's beauty to people who otherwise may not have ever heard it, is a fine person indeed.
For this show, I think you should stick to Broadway if you like it, or move on to more contemporaries. Do you like Celtic music? The songs "Danny Boy", "The Last Rose of Summer", "The Water is Wide", and "Carrickfergus" are all beautiful, ballad-like folk songs. If you're still looking for Broadway, I'd look to Beauty and the Beast. "Home" is a beautiful piece, as is "Papa Can You Hear Me?".
The first songs, the Celtic ones, can all be found on the albums of Charlotte Church. I don't know if you've heard her before, but she is one of the most amazing contemporary sopranos out there, and she began her career at the age of 13, I think. She's my favorite singer of all time, and they call her "the voice of an angel", so I would start your search there. She performs everything from folk songs to ballads to opera pieces.
Someone suggested "The Flower Duet", I saw- though it's gorgeous and amazing song, I wouldn't get your hopes up. It requires two amazingly talented sopranos, or at least a soprano and a mezzo. There's just too much inter-weaving and overlapping of voices to be able to perform it easily. If you had a few months and an amazing soprano partner, maybe. It can also be found on Charlotte's CD, "Enchantment".
As for the duet with the baritone, look no further than "The Prayer" by Josh Groban and Charlotte Church. It's my favorite duet of all time, the most beautiful song, in a combination of English and some relatively simple Italian. Listen to it, you'll fall in love.
Good luck with your search, and I hope you do well in the shows.

Ave Maria.
Listen to the Les Miserables soundtrack. You'll love it, and find lots of pieces
Many operatic sopranos have crossed-over successfully into the musical theatre world, particularly with pieces written before 1970 or thereabouts. Grab Dawn Upshaw's I WISH IT SO cd, for example, which you should be able to find relatively easily. One excellent underrated voice is Maureen McGovern--she can pull off just about anything short of grand opera. As for a bass/soprano duet that sounds contemporary, some father-daughter/potential daughter pieces from the world of opera come to mind, but you might want to look at Kern or Rodgers and Hammerstein for possibilities.
yes, you're too young to have your voice classified. as for a classical duet, you may try singing the flower duet from lakme.
its classical and i bet you could sing it.
btw, when you say arias, they come from operas and can never be a musical.. broadway songs like andrew loyd webber are a totaly different genre.
good luck!
Glitter and be gay from Candide. It will really work your coloratura.
This is super hard, but it is amazing. Listen to the kristen chenoweth version of it. It is AMAZING!!!
As for the duet, look at no matter what from Beauty and the beast. There really are no classical bass parts. There really are no bass parts in music at all. If there are they are really hard to find.
