Which Musicals would you recommend?

I have enjoyed Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, and My Fair Lady. Oh, and Annie and The Sound of Music.

Are there any others you like and recommend to me? If so, would be please tell me a little about the storyline of the musical, as well as a little about the type of music? Thanks in advance!

Which Musicals would you recommend?sheet music

Rent- Broadway musical... quite famous. It was recently released as a movie. Most of the songs are rock as it is a rock opera. It is my favorite musical to date. Love it, love it, love it. It is about a group of bohemians living in the East Village in New York struggling with AIDS, loss and love. I am certain you will at least like it. I have shown it to all of my friends and they have all loved the songs so much, I lent them my soundtrack.

Moulin Rouge- a great one starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. It is about a penniless writer who falls in love with a courtesan who works at a club known as the Moulin Rogue. It is set in the early 1900s. Lady Marmalade was a famous song that came out of that musical. There are some ballads as well as showtune-like songs. It has many song adaptations like Sting's Roxxane and a song medley that includes many famous love song such as (I only remember the lyrics, not sure if that is the name) "I will always love you" and "Where we belong".

Funny Face- Since you liked My Fair Lady then I recommended this one which also stars Audrey Hepburn. Contains some catchy melodies. She stars with Fred Astaire (spelling?). It is about a book worm, I would call her at least, who is transformed into a model for a magazine which leads them into a trip to Paris. Fred plays the photographer who discovers and transforms her.

West Side Story- Based on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Set in New York. About two rival gangs battling for each others territories. Tony, who was the former leader of the Jets, falls for Maria, whose brother is the leader of the Sharks. Great musical sequences as well as a great cast.

Be sure to check out http://www.imdb.com for more detailed descriptions. ;)

I read the above suggestions and the ones I've seen and liked are Chicago, The King and I and Seven Brides For Seven Brothers which I would also recommend.

Which Musicals would you recommend?state theatre opera theaterSound of Music is just fine, but check out the rest of Rogers and Hammerstein. You will love Oklahoma and Carousel. Report It

The King and I
Musicals I find are hard not to like.

Are you thinking of theatrical versions or films?

I'll recommend only sic, which I think are the best. And for the record, I am an actor, playwright, singer, songwreiter and critic and my science of these is provablygood.

1. Kismet--musically the best of all.

2. Brigadoon--very memorable score, thinner storyline.

3. 110 in the Shade--very good book from a play, with less inspiring songs except for two tor three.

4. Show Boat--good characters, great kern/Hammerstein score, book a bit dated perhaps.

5. Carousel--powerful Rodgers and Hammerstein score,

downbeat dramatic book from a play.

6. Guys and Dolls--great everything; Frank Loesser's masterpiece of New York intelligent underworld humor

Other movies:

Gigi

7 Brides For Seven Brothers

The Sky's the Limit

Top Hat

Paint Your Wagon

Oklahoma
If you liked Wicket i suggest you see "Godspell" it's by steven schwartz the man behind Wicked....It's beatifully written, and is based on the Gospel according to ST Matthew.

Sticking with the Biblical theme, is Jesus Christ Superstar.....I feel that it is Andrew Llloyd Webber's best piece to date....but most of his stuff is worth a listen....eg. Cats, Starlight Express, Joseph, The Beautiful Game etc.

If you like a little Jazz in your musicals you MUST see Chicago, live if possible but the film isn't too bad.

And one that is very rarely performed live so if you get a chance to see it, do.......Anything Goes by Cole Porter, contains some of his most famous songs and a surprisingly funny libretto surrounding them.
Hairspray, Jersey Boys, Fiddler on the Roof.

Hairspray: A classic. http://hairspraythemusical.com/

Jersey Boys: Based on the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. http://www.jerseyboysbroadway.com/

Fiddler on the Roof: Another classic. http://www.stageagent.com/shows.php?id=7...

You may even want to sign up for one of those programs where they get you to choose out of a selection of broadway shows and get tickets. you get good seats at like $25 a pop.

A good way is to also purchase the soundtrack first and see if you like the music. Then the show will be so much more enjoyable because you will be singing along with the music in your head.

Just get out there and try different shows and have fun with it.
Cabaret - very jazzy

Into the Woods - has a bunch of fairytales put together

Song %26amp; Dance - this is an Andrew Lloyd Weber piece. Act I is singing %26amp; Act II is nothing but dance

Rent - Idina Menzel ... need I say more?

The Last Five Years - Norbert Leo Butz was in Wicked as well as this

South Pacific - I think this is another Rodgers %26amp; Hammerstein

Sweet Charity

West Side Story

The Wedding Singer is hilarious!

If you want something darker, listen to Sweeny Todd or Urinetown
Bye Bye Birdie--It's about an Elvis-like star going off to war but first going to a little town to kiss one last girl, and she has a boyfriend and an overbearing father

Singing in the Rain---It's about the change in cinema to talking pictures and includes fabulous dancing and comedy

Grease--It's about the love of a rebel and a good girl in a 50's high school

Annie Get Your Gun--It's about the relationship between Annie Oakley and Wild Bill something or other. She's no lady.

The Music Man----This is about a conman coming to an Iowan city yet falling in love with town librarian who at once wanted to expose him as a fake

The Wedding Singer---It's about the love of a wedding singer and waitress who's soon to be married to a scumbag

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels---It's about a couple of conmen competing for a woman cut and throat. Comical music.

Chicago--It's about a murderous vixen standing trial and soaking up the dwindling spotlight. Jazzy music

West Side Story--Romeo and Juliet set in the fifties
I love The Drowsy Chaperone and Little Shop of Horrors!
I posted a link from YouTube so you can listen to a clip of one of the songs from each musical.

Rent - http://youtube.com/watch?v=L8ptqDGCm_U

Notre dame de Paris - http://youtube.com/watch?v=aBXeXBpTVOk

Romeo et Juliette : de la Haine a l'amour - http://youtube.com/watch?v=RAepSkP8Fuw

Cats - http://youtube.com/watch?v=CaHbZqqxUQg

Aspects of Love - http://youtube.com/watch?v=tBRfRy79IKk

Bare : A Pop Opera - http://youtube.com/watch?v=wC5t8X7n1l0
If you liked Wicked, you may like Rent. The same woman who plays Elphie (sp?) plays a main role in Rent.
Jersey Boys on Broadway is my favorite - I've seen it twice and would love to see it again and again. All ages seems to enjoy this high energy show. John Lloyd Young won the best actor Tony for his portrayal of Frankie Valli and deserved the award! The show also won the Tony for best musical. Tickets are hard to get but if you search around you can do it and you won't be sorry!

Help please?

hi im doing a version of stars in their eyes in two weeks as christine in the phantom of the opera. my problem is ive only just started to sing in front of people well only siince rehearsals im worried that i will get up on stage and go blank any tips

Help please?plays

If you feel panicky, locate a person you care about and trust in the audience. If you can't see them, picture them in your mind. Focus on that person as you sing, so everything else falls away. I bet you will have an amazing time and love every minute of it though!

Help please?opera ticket opera theater

The best advice is(seriously) "break a leg".
I have the best answer for your question "Help please?". Please click the link below to check my answer:
Yes-and I am being dead serious- in the meantime you should go to a karaoke bar with some friends so you get good at getting up and singing in front of people. You don't have to sing your Phantom song up there- in fact, you should try to sing many different types of songs. It will get you over your stage fright and possible fear of performing for people, so by the time you do your show, you'll be an old pro!! If you're not nervous, you won't blank on the words, either...
Pretend there is only your mother in the room and you are singing just for her....
never give up and try hard. only that person can reach the pinnacle who never looks back and goes through the difficulties. u can take an example of many singers. madonna is one of the example. think over it.
Pretty weird this but my daughter gets nervous on stage too and she visualises everyone as aliens that she has to perform to so that they know what this planet is like! I said it was weird but it works for her.
Concentrate on how your knees feel.

Seriously. They will go numb after a few moments(well, mine do anyway) of singing, and hopefully you'll find the sensation interesting enough to distract you from thinking about everyone else.

And maybe get a little lit drunk. Really, really very little - it'll open out your voice a bit and hopefully make you more confident!

Does anyone know good horror films with a sense of romance...?

... such as Mary Reily, Dracula or some of the old versions of the Phantom of the Opera?

Which other films like the above ones do you think I should watch?

Does anyone know good horror films with a sense of romance...?ms stress

...a classic gothic horror romance, and one of my top-10 favorite films, is the chilling 1964 film, "Castle of Blood"; it's one of those almost hypnotic gothic romances, whereby you can quite easily so caught up in the irresistable and compelling story, that deep down, you find yourself wanting ever so much to reside in the eerie and supernatural world, represented in the film. The plot: an arrogant young writer, during the turn of the century, accepts a bet, in which he had to survive the night, in an old, delapitated and broken down castle, belonging to a rich and brazen nobleman. The writer, upon settling in at the cold and eerie castle, finds that he not alone, as he encounters an irresistably beautiful young woman, who quickly attempts to warn him away from the castle, and to take her with him; falling instantly in love with the girl, but not wanting to lose the bet, the writer pays little heed to her warning, as he continues to encounter other random people in the castle.....people who, for whatever reason, possesses some hidden and sinister agenda, and may in fact, not even be alive!!!.....

...I cannot possibly go any further than this, without giving away the very essence of the film; if it's dark %26amp; thick-as-London-fog gothic romantic horror, which you are looking for, you just can't get any better than this...

Most Highly Recommended!!!

~its not made out to be a romance, but it really is
Delicatessen, Requiem for a Dream, Memento, and Seven
New one--Sweeney Todd, with Johnny Depp. Really bloody, but it does have 3 "love connections" involved.
i dunno I found that alot of the older and recent horror movies have the romance aspect to them, i guess not on a grand scale like the phantom of the opera

but more of just the boy and the girl are the last ones standing and they walk away together safe blah blah

like in house on haunted hill or dawn of the dead

i saw 30 days of night the other day and it had a love story mixed in as well

i dont think you'll have a problem finding some
Planet Terror (Grindhouse)

Pole the audience?

i used to be in choir at least 4 or more years ago. now i am a dance major. a ladie freind of mine has asked me to sing a song with her. its from phantom of the opera. my voice fits but i am not good at all at remembering lyrics and am uncomfortable with singing in front of groups. i need the experience though.

just wondering what you all think i should do. i cant decide.

Pole the audience?binoculars

If you need the experience then do it. Try memorizing by rote. Read a line a few times, then close your eyes and say it. Check to make sure you had it right. Keep on repeating it till you got it down. Once you can say it with out any mistakes add the next line. Keep on adding lines till you got them all down.

Pole the audience?violin opera theater

The only way to conquer the fear is to face it head on. Do it.

Btw, work on your spelling/grammar. It is poll the audience not pole the audience. "Lady friend" is the correct spelling, and capitalize titles like Phantom of the Opera and proper nouns like "I".
You should go for it!

Have you ever stayed at the Beekman Tower in New York city?

How were the accomidations? Is it close to any good restaurants? Also, what is the best way to see the sights of New York City? I only have 2 whole days and want to see as much as possible. We are going to see the phantom of the opera at the majestic theatre. Is it close enough to walk?

Thank you!

Have you ever stayed at the Beekman Tower in New York city?performing arts center

The theatre is at 44th Street and Broadway; your hotel is on Mitchell Place near 49th and First Avenue. This is about a mile from the theatre, if you are used to walking that distance, by all means walk, but if you aren't used to it, I suggest you take the bus - it's right at the corner of your hotel. Walk to First Avenue and 49th Street and take the M27 bus headed to Midtown West. Get off the bus at 44th Street and Seventh Avenue and you'll be less than a block from the Majestic Theatre. Allow yourself at least 1/2 hour travelling time.

The Beekman is in a great neighborhood - right near the UN. I live in New York so I've never stayed there. Here are some reviews from people who have stayed there - it looks like everyone was happy with the hotel. You'll have a kitchen, so you can save your restaurant leftovers.

Can you write a successful musical that's not based in the past?

I'm just curious. I want to attempted to write a musical based in the times of today and I want it to be about a family in a small town. But all of the musicals, I've seen are based in the past like Hairspray, Grease, Phantom of the Opera, etc. The only one I can think of that isn't is Legally Blonde and that's probably because it's based on a movie. Is it possible to write a musical based in this day and age?

Can you write a successful musical that's not based in the past?opera score

Forget what you see. Write what you feel. Don't try to copy.

What you write is an original and it is not a copy. Be true to your creative muses. GO FOR IT.

Can you write a successful musical that's not based in the past?musicals opera theater

Yes- the stories of Avenue Q and Rent were both contemporary with the times they were written in.
Wouldn't HSM qualify?
You can write about anything that sparks your interest. That's why it's such a liberating artform. In all actuality, there are no rules to writing. You can write anything you want, the only thing you have to keep in mind is that if your message isn't clear, or has no substance, no one will want to see it.
There is theatre shows based in the future (like We Will Rock You for example), however, don't think you have to copy everyone elses work!

It's your choice when/where to base a musical, so have fun with it and make up all sorts of ideas =]
Yes. But it would be good for your music to match your time period. That's what makes Hairspray fun, its got 60s-pop feel, The Wedding Singer has an 80s feel, Chicago has the 1920s nightclub-ness. Also there are plenty of shows that are timeless and can really be set in anytime or that do not really focus on time period like Company and Gospel.

You're a bit overweight I'd say. I personally don't find you attractive, but you might appeal more to others if you dropped some weight, like 10 or so pounds.

Your hair looks awful - sooooo doesnt suit you. Makes you look bigger than you are. And maybe try not wearing such dark clothes.........

sorry.

and maybe get a better haircut. it looks greasy.
Cut your hair as it makes it look greasy, stop with the stupid poses and just smile, loose a bit of weight (you don't need to loose a lot but you will look so much better), don't dress emo and if you are wondering why you aren't getting any interest from girls, make your mind up about what is more important; girls or video games as your not going to date a cute girl when you play runescape.
hmm

i thnk u looked kinda cute in the pic w/ ur hand in ur face lol
With these pictures you only rate a 9 on the emo dork scale.
No...Now stop posting gay questions man
u look emo so ya u look good
no offence but no your are pretty ugly. im probably the only one who has said stuff as bad as this but you asked. your a bit overweight and look like an emo/goth. your hair is too long so get it cut to spikey
omg lose some weight/tone up and youll be hot =]

i like ur style too.

What does 'Keep your hand at the level of your eyes' mean?

I recently watched The Phantom of the Opera (2004 version) again, and I was just wondering what the heck 'Keep your hand at the level of your eyes' means... I dunno why I wanna know, it's just been bothering me, I guess.

What does 'Keep your hand at the level of your eyes' mean?sunshine

keep your hand at the level of your eyes is to help protect you from the Punjab lasso..... a favorite weapon of the phantom by doing so you would have a hand between the lasso and your neck so you could save yourself from strangulation

Joesph Buquet (sp?) shows this while he is telling his story about the phantom to the dancers earlier in the film

What does 'Keep your hand at the level of your eyes' mean?star theater opera theater

Keep Your Hand at the level of your eyes to protect your vision from the hideous face of The Phantom
i always wondered that too but i think it means that since the phantom was treated really bad at a younger age he has a hard time trusting people - so if you keep your hand at the level of your eye, then he knows you won't try to slip something past him that could hurt him. maybe i'm wrong... but that's what i guessed. --btw, that movie is awesome!
It means that he will hang you(he hung all his victims) Just do the motion. Put your hands to the level of your eyes and imagine if someone was trying to put a lasso around your head. Your arms would be able to pull it loose and take it off.
I read the book and i know why, no joke! There is actually a Persian that has been tracking the phantom and he is the one who leads christines boyfriend down into the depths of the phantoms home. The phantom was know to lasso men around their necks in a moment of suprise, circling their necks and hanging them before they could do anything. By holding their hands at the level of their eyes, they had their arms up by their necks and could escape from the noose, avoiding being strangled by the phantom. So the persian told him to keep his hand at the level of his eyes.
OMG!! That movie is MY FAVORITE MOVIE EVER!!!!!!! I absolutely, totally, extremely LOVE the Phantom of the Opera!!!!!

Madame Giry tells Raoul to keep his hands at the level of his eyes because The Phantom has his lasso's and tries to hang people (like he did to Boquet). If you have your hand at eye level, you can move the lasso so you won't get hung.

I am now totally in the mood to watch The Phantom of the Opera. No movie compares......

I LOVE THE PHANTOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dbzcutie is right, I read the book too (lots of times) and if you keep your hand at the level of your eyes, if Eric (the Phantom) throws his punjab lasso at you, it will go around your hand as well as your neck and you can remove it and keep you from being strangled.

You really need to read the book, it's a lot different from the movie/play, both of which are awesome, but in many ways better - the ending is so sad, but I just love it, it's one of my top 3 favorite books.

Who was the best performer at the CONCERT FOR DIANA ??? at wembley poll?opera cd opera theater

Take That were the penultimate act (and were amazing!) and Elton John was the final performer.
Rod Stewart was the best. Gervais was crap!
william what a dancer lol
well i missed most of it :( but Rod Stewart was good.
i only started watching it from the middle.

But the performance that i enjoyed were Brocelli's Phantom of the Opera together with Josh Groban and Sarah Brickman,

and P Diddy's "Missing You". That's the only nice song from P Diddy and i love the concert version.
Normally, I would HAVE to say, that, - if I am to be HONEST, - I have always, - previously, - DESPISED the existence of SEAN "P-DIDDY" COMBS, - but, last night's perfomance at Wembley Stadium had me in TEARS, - of ADMIRATION, - and, my opinion of the man escalated, - he was TERRIFIC!

Thank you, "P-DIDDY", - you SAID what I WANTED to say!
I was!!!!
Lily Allen was fantastic and to think she was only a child when Di died, I feel her contribution had more meaning.

Rod Stewart was as always shear bliss.

Bryan Ferry he can still draw a crowd.

As for P Diddy and his entourage he said it all, something we all wanted to say.

The idiot who spoilt it was Ricky Gervais, he couldn't hold together a audience for five minutes let alone the two he was asked to entertain "What a complete Plonker!" personally the only let down other than it finished way too early, it should have been till midnight...
Didnt see it all in fact only saw Rod and he was fantastic and Ricky Gervais was shite I thought, erm Mr Ferry's still got it
Dont know bout best but worst Ricky Gervais.
Take that hated Duran Duran

Compose music?

I have just finished watching the Phantom of the Opera on my dvd player (one of my fav. movies btw) and I just can't get past the fact that people like Andrew Lloyd Weber can make such beautiful and powerful music. It has always been a dream of mine to either participate in the music or to write it myself. However, I'm stuck in a crappy school band without professional experience and it is a LONG time before I can go to college and study musical composition. I am VERY short on money and I just want to learn how to form beautiful music ideas of my own. Does anyone know where I can study musical composition for free on the internet?

Compose music?ballet theater

I don't know of anything online other then searching on google. but one way to compose music is Finale Notepad. There is a trial version available on-line. The program itself is not very expensive. If I remember it was only like $30 bucks for the beginner version. It allows you to compose you own music. I learned alot about musical theory by just fiddling around with it. The program is also really easy.

Compose music?chicago theater opera theater

I know how you feel. I love listening to film scores and themes (especially The Kraken from Pirates 2; goodness that's something crazy good) but really, if you have that love of music like you say, and you have a musically creative mind, then I say simply get out your instrument, and orchastrate the parts in your own composition, and while it my be difficult, it's fun. I'm doing it with my alto saxaphone. Musical study for free is logically impossible. They make you pay for everything from teachings to simple sheet music. I say don't let that take you down.
Composition is a skill that can be taught, but not in an impersonal setting like the internet. If you're serious about composing, you would need to seek out the best teacher you can find and study with him or her one-on-one. This is, essentially, what college composition programs are all about.

But becoming a composer is a lifelong goal, and there are other skills you can start learning now that will help you along the way. First and foremost, I would recommend taking piano lessons from a teacher who also stresses music theory. Guitar lessons are also helpful, but either way, the key is to find a teacher who will help you to learn more about how music "works," and not someone who wants to make you the next Rubenstein -- and certainly not a Suzuki teacher. Once you've learned the basic principles of music theory and harmony, you can start to analyze your favorite pieces to see how they are put together, and that's one of the most important things an aspiring composer can do.

You can start to read about music theory on the internet (just do a search for "music theory" or "music fundamentals"), but you'll need the give-and-take with a teacher to really understand how to use it. You may not think that you have the money for lessons, but if it's really important for you, you need to find a way because there is no substitute. Some community music schools offer scholarships, and some teachers may offer reduced rates or group lessons. You can start by asking your band director for a recommendation.

If you start studying piano and music theory now, and really devote yourself to it, you'll be in a position to get into some of the best university composition programs in the world when the time comes. It will take a lot of very, very hard work to get there, but if it's your passion, it will be worth it.

I'm going to be singing on Wednesday?

I'm singing the Phantom of the Opera this coming wednesday at a piano recital.

i have to sing some pretty high notes.

Any tips on what to eat and any excersises?

Thanks

I'm going to be singing on Wednesday?oper

Just make sure that you don't eat or drink any milk products before you sing! Also try drinking tea before going on! Just make sure that your voice is warmed up, by doing "lip trills". Just make sure that you are relaxed, and do your best! If you have any further questions, like more warmups just e-mail me at star_7_13@hotmail.com

I have to sing a very high note for a recital this Wednesday.?

I'm singing The Phantom of the Opera and have to sing some very high notes that I'm having some trouble getting.

Any tips?

I have to sing a very high note for a recital this Wednesday.?theater

Warm up lightly. Avoid dairy, avoid foods/drinks with citric acid (lemons, oranges), drink plenty of room temp water. Keep hydrated! Avoid hot drinks and icy drinks - these will alternately scald and shock your vocal cords. Citric acid will irritate your vocal cords (burn them), if you are congested you can have no more than 1/4 cup of OJ or a slice or two of lemon to clear the phlegm. Be sure to follow with room temp water.

You need to be properly supporting your breath. The high notes take more air than the lower ones - if you can figure out how to find a place to take a good breath right before you launch into the higher octaves do so. Be sure to open up the back of your mouth and breathe! Your mouth should be a "cavern" - a nice open space for the sound to escape.

Break a leg!

I have to sing a very high note for a recital this Wednesday.?london theatre opera theater

Make sure and warm up your voice first. Practice some easier notes or songs. Then try to hit the high note. Breathe, breathe, that will also help.
Spend some time warming up with scales. Start low and build to the higher notes. But dont belt out your warm up save your voice for the performance.

Note that higher notes come out the clearest when they are supported from the deep part of you diaphram so take deep breaths and make sure you have enough air support otherwise it comes out screechy.

I hope you sound beautiful. Good Luck.
drink an 8 ounce glass of lemon juice and wear a warm slightly wet towel around your neck just dampen it and put it in the microwave for about 45 seconds or so, this will loosen up your vocal chords and the lemon juice will help to relax them as well... and of course 10 minutes of vocal practice!!!!
Two days will be enough to try these suggestions and hit those notes:

-Maybe you need to use more air pressure so put your hand on your stomach and as you sing make some pressure "in" with your hands.

-Sometimes you get the notes by using a different voicing. Think a smaller oral cavity in the front of your mouth while the back of your throat could be somewhat open.

-Maybe you just need to warm up properly, so get some good vocalization patterns and get all those muscles warmed.

Some more: don't sing in the morning and don't drink dairy products before singing. Dairy products stimulate phlegm production...fatal for singers.

Knock them dead....the high notes.
No matter what technique you use to practice and prepare to hit those high notes, in the end, it's the whole performance that counts. So this is what I have to say: Enjoy the performance and SING YOUR HEART OUT! Everybody will LOVE it no matter if you miss some notes. I am sure you sing beautifully so focus on the whole instead of stressing out about a few notes. GOOD LUCK!
have a miget in your pants squeezing your testicles, works everytime!

p.s. you may want to drink coffee, black. it always lubricates my voice when I am singing or holding lengthy sales meetings-seriously. you can always drink decaf, if the leaded gets you jittery. don't want to be nervous wreck, ya know.
i like to visualize. for example, visualize a basketball hoop, and try to "get your pitch in"

What does this translate to? (French)?

One of my (Obviously more cultured) friends is writing a Phantom of the Opera fanfiction, which I have been reading. Most of it is in English, and my oh so meager knowledge of the French language has helped me with the few French words she has included.

Unfortunately I have just run across this...

"Etre de retour a mort, Monsieur Fantome? La police, ne t'a pas encore trouv茅?"

...And I have utterly no idea what it says. Anyone smarter than me willing to translate?

What does this translate to? (French)?theatre

"Etre de retour a mort" isn't correct in french. If your friend has tried to say "Have you been back from the death, Sir Fant?me", the translation could be "Vous 锚tes revenu d'entre les morts, Monsieur Fant?me ?", "entre les morts" meaning "between dead people".

"La police ne t'a pas encore trouv茅 ?" has been correctly translated by other people.

What does this translate to? (French)?opera music opera theater

Ask a French Teacher.
Did you die again, Mr Fantome? The police force, did not find you yet.
Being returned to death, Mr. Fantome? The police haven't found you yet? (If he wanted to say "Returned from death" he'd have "Etre de retour de mort."
To be of return died, Mr Fantome? Didn't the police force, find you yet?

Evidently the person asking the question wanted to know if Mr. Fantome has returned. They then asked if the police found him.
Did you return from the dead, Mister Phantom? The police again did not find you?"
are we coming back from death , Mister Phantom? The police have not found us yet ?

I hope that will be fine , MY language is not English , so maybe be a little mistake in translation from my main language to English .

But is more important to Try : )

HELP! With bridesmaid dresses????

I am getting married July 4th, 2008. I am Not having a red, white and blue wedding! But i do love the color red. Deep red. I want all my girls to be comfortable in their dress, and they are all under the age of 30. SO i dont want old lady looking dresses. I want something fun, sexy, and beautiful. My theme is formal. and kind of leaning towards Phantom of the opera style. Red, black and white. We are having Candelabras on the tables, Im just trying to give you a small vision.

Here is a link to what my wedding dress looks like. http://www.allurebridals.com/dresses/ful...

By the way these pictures do not give this dress any Justice. The pics I took myself are so much better. LOL. I wish I could scan them. Anyway Please feel free to give your advice on the Colors, decorations, Thanks in advance! :)

Your dress is beautiful.

Now, as for the bridesmaids. If you are doing an outdoor wedding, I would not recommend a dark color dress (it would simply be too hot in the sun in a dark color). If not, go for the dark red. Look for a dress that is made out of a nice, light material, with spaghetti straps or strapless (if they are comfortable w/o straps, I know some people aren't).

If you decide for the red/black/white I would think you should do an evening reception, I think of lighter, brighter colors for a day wedding. Congratulations, I am sure your wedding will be beautiful!

I see you added some details =) Here's a few different reds that David's Bridal offers.

HELP! With bridesmaid dresses????phantom of the opera opera theater

A lot of my brides have been buying cocktail style dresses for their bridesmaids out of J. Crew, Chadwicks, and other catalogs for great prices, that are really trendy and young looking. If all your b'maids are easy to fit, this may be an option. Also, chain dept. stores like Dillard's, Foley's, Macy's and others may be an option; if they don't have all your sizes in that store, they can get them shipped in from their other locations for you.

There is a newer b'maid company called Raylia, which started as a division of Maggie Sottero Bridal that has some really young sexy styles that you might like! Their website is: www.rayliadesigns.com
Awesome dress I wish mine had been that pretty. I have some websites where you can go and look for some dresses and different styles. I think they need to be kind of bubbly like yours but dont let them look better than you. I dont think that will ever happen though. Red would look awesome.
Check out Dessy or After Six for the maids dresse - they have a ton of different shades %26amp; variations of RED! Here's a link

http://www.dessy.com/index.cfm?go=dresse...

I do suggest ordering a swatch of your dress.. They'll send two of them %26amp; they are so important to have! You'll need it to match up your table linens, flowers, everything! :) The Candelabras would def. be a good choice! You could have your florist make up some beautiful arrangements to place on them! Maybe something like this..

http://rentedelegance.com/pgdetail.php?i...

And you could do lots of pretty draping on the doorways leading into the ceremony %26amp; reception site

http://rentedelegance.com/propdetail.php...

Stick with black wrought iron details.. it will look BEAUTIFUL! Congrats on the wedding!
I would recommend letting them choose their own style of dress (within reason). Many bridal salons now have options where you can pick the color and then the bridesmaids can pick the style. This way they all match, but are still comfortable and have something on which flatters them. Also, they now have two piece bridesmaids dresses where each piece can be used after the wedding. Check out davidsbridal.com they have some great ideas.

Good luck and congrats!
beautiful dress!! i;m getting married in august.

let the girls pick whatever style they want. as long as it's in the red family. this way, they can wear something they like cuz they picked it themselves and possibly wear it in the future. thats what i did with my bridesmaid and they absolutely LOVE and APPRECIATED that idea. so far, all my girls are in the same color family but different dresses. the colors dont all match but thats the point. why does it have to look uniform?

good luck!!

This one seems like it would compliment your dress REALLY well, and I used alfred angelo for my bridesmaids and had the best luck with them!

I like the neckline of this, but I would do the longer version it says it offers, and in your red color...

http://www.alfredangelo.com/index.cfm/fu...

I dunno if I like the red black and white thing for a summer outside wedding, (not really a fan of that color scheme in general, its just too generic in my opinion)

Just a suggestion, and ignore it if you want, but why not do some deep red roses mixed in with deep purples, yellows and greens for your flowers? I PROMISE its breathtaking and would be very summery, you could still do the candelabras on the tables and just use more colorful flowers with it....Also, just red and purple is really pretty together as well...

BTW-totally with you on the NOT red white and blue thing, EW! and I love your dress, super pretty!
WOW! Pretty gown - but the front only! The back just wrecks the whole thing, sorry.

Maybe the bridesmaids could wear a gown like the woman does in Phantom, in keeping with your theme. Is your bf ok with doing the whole mask thing?

Good luck, sounds like fun!
First let me say, your gown is gorgeous. You'll be a beautiful bride. As to dresses for your girls, I recommend separates. You pick the color and a skirt and let them pick the top. Jordan's skirt number B021 will coordinate very nicely with your gown's skirt. good luck
you'll be beautiful - sorry that mean girl put your dress down. Best wishes!

Why do Broadway shows close?

Just in general. Like RENT for example. Its the 7th longest running show on broadway. and its closing.

i guess it means on the popularity? any opinions.

i mean obviously phantom of the opera [which just celebrated 20 years] is popular. i mean the esteem of the musical? like CHICAGO for example. i mean that musical is loved as heck and its been on bway for 11 years and still going strong. and other ones such as chorus line. revivals can live quite a lot too. so just some general...answer-ness? why would they close a show.

[ramble over]

Why do Broadway shows close?the grand theater

Theatre Doc is right. I also agree with Ivory though, the only positive side to Rent closing is the rights will become available HOWEVER I think Rent will fast become the most overdone show across the country. Let's hope producers and directors don't just do it for the money the show will bring in, but they do it for the love of the show itself and keep it's integrity intact.

Marianne

Why do Broadway shows close?soap opera opera theater

More on the wave of, The show is losing popularity. And in that it losses money. And there are always going to be new plays that need space.

but the good thing about them closing is....the RIGHTS COME OUT!!!!
I think that, in the case of RENT, there are new musicals with a similar style that are getting more popular, like Spring Awakening and right now it's not doing so well as it did before. I'm sure there will be a revival in the future. They're tryning to create expectation, so when they come back Rent will be a hit and people will crowd to get tickets.
Broadway shows rent the theatres they are presented in. There is always a closing clause in the rental agreement that says if the box office receipts fall below a certain level for a specified time (like three consecutive weeks), the show will have to leave the theatre.
Several of you have hit on it -- Theatre Doc comes closest. A Show closes when it begins losing money. As attendance declines, they can send blocks of tickets to the half-price TKTS booth in Times Square, but eventually, without a little boost from winning a Tony or two or re-casting the show with a new star -- Chicago has had Bebe Neuwirth, Karen Ziemba, Ute Lemperer, Sharon Lawrence, Jasmine Guy, etc. etc. in the lead role -- interest lags and it's time to put together the first National Tour, then release the rights to professionals, then the movie to try and make money. Much as we like to think of theatre as art, it is also very much a business

well to be honest... all of the songs from chicago and Phantom of the opera are vocally straining for someone who isnt used to it. I remember singing Mr. Celophane... if you want something upbeat, try "mama says" from footloose for high voice if its a low male voice, "I got plenty o' nuttin" From Porgy and Bess (Gershwin) for downbeat songs if you have a low voice, you may want to try "boy for sale" from "oliver!" and "Goodbye old girl" from "Damn Yankees" Be careful though, Goodbye old girl goes to a higher key in the end.

He's my best friend. I've got it bad for him. He seems to like me enough. He has tickets to the Phantom of the Opera and he asked me to go with him. But he's always giving me mixed messages. Talking about other girls in front of me, and then acting like I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread. I don't know what to do. Make a move or stay safe...? It's annoying because I don't want to ruin what we have, a great friendship, but I think we could have something and I like him so much!!!!! I'm not using the l-word (although my friends have teased me about it). He sticks up for me in front of everyone else and then doesn't say a word. He's great but afraid to do anything. Help me please!!! Can someone translate?!?!

Does he or does he not?opera cd

Try this. Be totally honest with him about your feelings. Tell him you want a boyfriend and he is your first choice, but if he doesn't want you (unlikely), you want to move on to someone who does. If he agrees you should move on, you can keep him as a friend and ask his advice about boys.

Does he or does he not?opera singer opera theater

make a move!
i think he likes you and the reason why he talks about other girls is that he wanna see if yer gonna get jealous...dont lose hope....time will come and he's gonna tell u how he feels : ) juz jeep on prayin!!!
he may feel the same way you do..he doesn't want to ruin your friendship either...all you can do is ask...if he is your true friend he won't be scared off by your question...if he says no take it as is but continue to be his friend if possible...you never know it may eventually turn out to be love....good luck
I'm not a guy so i can't translate for him. But in my opinion i think that he does like you but the whole talking about girls in front of you maybe he jus says those things cause if you don't like him it doesn't make him look bad were it looks like he's all obsessed for you. You might want to ask him because it also maybe the whole friend thing. Its tricky to decipher between frds and boyfriend.

But once again it does look like he does like you, but you will never know if you don't ask him. But say it in a way that if he does like you only as a friend than it won't make you look bad either.
Best friends are great and wonderful. My husband became one of my best friends before we got married. I would continue to be his friend, but I wouldn't make the first move. Let the man lead. I believe a woman should be pursued not the other way around. However, at the same time you are being his friend you can get some other friends too. Meet new people, go out on dates, have fun with the girls. Don't be too available. If he wants you he'll pursue you.
Bite the bullet! I'm sure you won't lose his friendship if you ask him if he has ever thought about having a relationship with you? You don't have to come on strong.

I was in a similar situation once and it could have led somewhere and I told him that it would have been easy to get involved with him, and he agreed, but said he valued the friendship too much.

Nothing more was said, but now I think we should maybe not have avoided it. We are still friends though.

I will always wonder what would have happened, but my desires now are elsewhere, although I still think the world of him.

You need to know girl....or it will drive you mental! So go ask him!

Majestic Theatre in San Antonio , TX???

My bf likes The Phantom of the Opera... I want to get him tickets to it for Vday but I have never been there or seen the show. I dont know where would be the best seats there.... Any one know?

Majestic Theatre in San Antonio , TX???chicago theater

I have found that you get the best seats at the Majestic if you go to the box office at the theatre rather than on line, as they have a different selection. When looking at Orchestra seats, it is always nice to get as close as possible (especially for Phantom). Avoid the AA-HH orchestra seats if possible. I had the front row center for Phantom at the Majestic which was really special for the chandelier scene.

The front row of the balcony the view can sometimes be blocked by the rail in front of the seats.

The best seats are in the Starlight Suites, but these are rarely available.

Enjoy the show!

Do I need to dress up to see a show at the Sacramento Community Theatre?

I'm seeing Phantom of the Opera, and I do not know if people still dress up for things like that.

Do I need to dress up to see a show at the Sacramento Community Theatre?theater seating

Some will make a special evening and dress (suit and tie for man), most will not. So, do what is comfortable for you and the evening you have planned around the theater. Formal wear definitely would stand out!! (formal wear meaning tux and gown for the lady). Probably dress as you would for a church service, or even more casual if you prefer.

Do I need to dress up to see a show at the Sacramento Community Theatre?lyric opera opera theater

Wear a cute dress and a jacket over it...if you see everyone's more dressed up, take off the jacket to show off the classy dress! :)
II always go for dressing up. Not to the level of formal but something that shows that you made the effort for a nice theatre evening. I really am tired of going to the theatre and seeing people looking like they just threw any old thing on or were prepared for a camping trip. It just shows bad taste. I feel the same for dining out unless you are talking Chucky Cheese. Come on, make the effort to put on something evening and function appropriate. That never changes as far as I'm concerned. Remember, you act as you dress.
Its alwasy better to be over dressed than under. Just don't go too overboard, you don't have to dress formally, just nice.

I've had a bad week so far. Will you try to cheer me up?

It's only Tuesday and I've had to get stitches, had a staph infection, have two 2nd degree burns, 4 hours of homework both nights, and I fell down the steps at school. We thought our tickets for Phantom of the Opera were for this past Sunday, but they were really for the 20th and we didn't get to go because they were sold out for the rest of the shows. It's also been thundering really badly outside, and I'm terrified of thunder. Will you try to cheer me up? I'm trying to stay happy, but all this has me down in the dumpers. A story, joke, or even just nice words would help.

How much do you think a well respected play writer earns?

ex of plays: Phantom of the Opera, Rent...

How much do you think a well respected play writer earns?hollywood theater

It depends on the success, I think. Those plays have been running for years. I've heard that it's somewhere in the neighborhood of $70-80,000. Just a guess.

How much do you think a well respected play writer earns?opera.com opera theater

The writers of those plays get a percentage of the take of the shows, and have become millionaires off of them.
A young aspiring writer writes for practice; writes for pleasure and makes little or nothing for it- however they put their plays/musicals out there often at their own expense.

If... they/ their materials get discovered and the stars line up they may make have their plays/musicals hit broadway in which yes they get a "cut" or percentage of the profits right along side the producers who financed the production.

Upon the close of the show (or the point when the rights are made available) a theatrical management company may pick up (pay for the right to own rental rights) the show and hold the management end for the writer. At this point the show is made available for schools, companies, community theatres, touring groups etc to request permission to perform the show.

Lets just say that at that point the writer can continue to collect the royalties off of all future productions that ever happen (until their death and then the $$ can be willed to two generations beyond).

Just FYI Andrew Lloyd Webber of Phantom fame is stinkin rich at this point; and sadly Jonathan Larsen the pen of Rent died an early and tragic death on the opening night of Rent's previews. So many a good composer never live to see their own fame :(

Does the idea of getting married excite or scare you? Would you prefer to just date?

Is sharing "one love, one lifetime" (quote from The Phantom of The Opera) something you want to do or something you're scared of?

I have a friend who dates but he says he can't commit to marriage to one person.

Does the idea of getting married excite or scare you? Would you prefer to just date?

I HATED bieng married to the wrong person - but even thinking about bieng married to the right person REALLY excites me! :-) I have not lost the faith!

Does the idea of getting married excite or scare you? Would you prefer to just date?opera mobile opera theater

It doesn't excite or scare me. Just doesn't interest me. I've been married before and I like my freedom now.
definately want to get married.
I'm getting married in four and half months and it excites me. I do much better in one monogamous relationship than attempting to date, break up, be single for however long, date again. Ick. No thanks.

My fiance drives me batshit sometimes but I wouldn't have it any other way. Besides, farting in bed can be downright hilarious sometimes. He's worse than me. Hehe.
It does excite me. I love my boyfriend very much and he is very good to me, I definately see myself being with him and having kids and what not. I think when youre ready, you are ready and you can not talk someone into it otherwise. Marriage is not made for everyone...
To each his own as they say. It depends on the person if they want to spend their lives with one person or date lots of different people. Me, personally, marriage is the best, you grow together so close, it can't be described. You always have someone there for you when you are sad, hurt, happy, etc. You have a best friend, a lover, someone who loves you and would do anything for you. To me being alone would be a sad life and dating gets real old after years of it. I am married and wouldn't have it any other way. I have a fantastic husband.
The idea of getting married excites me.

If you just date people then that's really not the right way because that person can just ditch you at any time, and if you both have a kid together than that person won't even be legally obligated to help you out much. But marriage is a more stable and harmonious relationship.

Marriage should be approached with caution and of course you should find out a lot about the person you want to marry first. But when you decide that you want to marry that person then that's better for you. People should realize that marriage is better also for the family since the kids won't be torn apart and the extended relatives will also be happier. Anyway, I suggest to everyone to be serious about marriage and avoid having casual relationships with many people.
Gettin married definately excites me!Nothing about it is scary.Nothing at all!If all else fails, divorce!

Your friend is a sad case and I sincerely pity him.How narrow minded can he be?Perhaps,he has inferiority issues.Perhaps he feels dats he's never good enuf for anyone.
I compare to buying a home.

Dating is renting a home and marriage is buying one. you are supposed to rent to own a home. I know for a fact that I want a home to come to. Everyone does. The ones who don't admit are afraid of their past which we will call credit. They are also afraid of their friend's credit reports and things. Well, buying a home is a risk, but very benificiary. That's how I feel about marriage. I want it!

SOLD!
it scares the hell outta me...I havent come across a married couple where just by looking at them together makes me want to get married! infact looking at them together makes me NOT want to get married! the majority of people i know just dont look like they enjoy being married, they're iether tied down with no freedom or unhappy. why would i want to get married after that? exactly!
Marriage isn't for everyone. Some people do just fine being

single--still others need to be united in order to feel complete.

Personally, I've been married, divorced, and would really love

to marry the right woman for me.

Everyone has to follow his or her own heart and feelings, OK?
dosent scare if sure of yourself that doing right thing. can excite since look forward to new life

Does anyone have any advice on what I should get my husband for our 5th anniversay?

I only have 2 weeks to get it but I am open to any ideas that anyone might have. I know he got me Phantom of the opera tickets and I know I probably won't be able to top that. but I am looking for something romantic and creative to do for our anniversary. Please help! Thank You!

Does anyone have any advice on what I should get my husband for our 5th anniversay?opera music

I would make reservations to stay the night in a hotel room. Make sure it has a jacuzzi and take wine, candles, and massage lotion and bath oil. Your husband would probably love being with you somewhere different and romantic with a night that will be special and one he won't soon forget. Happy Anniversary sweetie.

My friends; EVERYBODY is so ungrateful of the life they've been given.?

They choose to stay blind. They want answers, but not the truth. Everyone I have met in my time has been a disappointment. I spent every moment in my life helping or planning to help others, in times of life and death, as the only answer to despair. Not once has anybody reached out to me. Nobody remembers to include me, or to keep promised plans. Instead, they choose a life of sex and smoking pot. Even the strongest bonds I've had is to no effect.

I am not the Phantom of the Opera. I look like a perfectly fine, "cute" guy, to quote these girls. I am not like other guys, basically with my comedy, wit and interest in classy things and controlled sexual urges.

Not a single one has told me why they forget and leave me out, forcing me to spend the nights alone in the dark. There's no obvious reason strangers can see, either.

I have had just about enough. I could make them appreciate the things I do for them; the life they horde. To see life through my eyes, locked away, alone, in a room.

I'm sad for you but I can tell you a lesson that I learned by experience. True Love is unconditional and if you give never expecting anything in return, you will never be disappointed. You my friend walk a line few are willing to walk. Many people are uncomfortable around those who have a higher standard of living. Stay true to yourself, be a man of honor, and those who are worthy to be in your circle will find their way to you. Blessings, Destiny

I have alot. But I can't remember all. I'm sure there's gotta be alot of semirock music in it.
My favorite is Moulin Rouge. I honestly don't have a favorite from there(they're all great), but I do love el tango de roxanne. That voice is just amazing.
My favorite movie soundtrack is Grease!! Every song on there is fun to listen to and great to sing along with also!
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Soundtrack by Ennio Morricone 1966

"The Ecstasy of Gold" (Best song)
Saturday Night Fever and Grease (tie) for my favorite soundtracks from a movie. Favorite song is "Grease". Both are 70's and I own both records and they have alot of memories for me, plus they both have some really good songs on them.
ive got many but one is my heart will go on from titanic.
The better soundtrack from movies are these:Lord of the rings soundtrack, requiem for a dream as you said and the best of the best,Star Wars soundtrack. It fits the whole movie great and its the better music for the atmosphere. For a song I would definitely say from Daredevil movie "Bring me to Live" by Evanescence!!!
